1.The Government of India has announced that the mandatory hallmarking of gold jewellery and artefacts will come into force from June 16 in a phased manner and initially will be implemented in 256 districts of the country.

2.The Union Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey virtually launched NAFED’s Fortified Rice Bran Oil. It will be marketed by National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).

3.The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to develop seaplane services across the country.

4.The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) is observed by the United Nations on June 16. The Theme of IDFR for this year is ‘Recovery and Resilience through digital and financial inclusion’.

5.The latest edition of UNESCO Science Report (USR) was published on June 11, 2021 which is entitled as “Race against time for smarter development”. The chapter on India in the latest edition was authored by Professor Sunil Mani, director at Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram.

6.The Sustainable Development Report 2021 is the seventh edition of the annual report on the progress of UN Member States towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is prepared by experts from the UN’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Bertelsmann Stiftung. Finland was ranked highest in the index.
