Clement Attlee’s Declaration – Independence
( 20 February 1947)
Clement Attlee, the British Prime Minister made an announcement on February 20, 1947, declaring the British intention of leaving the Indian subcontinent. It said:
• A deadline of June 30, 1948, was fixed for the transfer of power even if the Indian politicians had not agreed by
that time on the constitution
• The British would relinquish power either to some form of central government or in some areas to the existing provincial governments if the constituent assembly was not fully representative
• British powers and obligations vis-a-vis the princely states would lapse with transfer of power, but these would not be transferred to any successor government in British India
• Mountbatten would replace Wavell as the viceroy
கிளெமென்ட் அட்லீயின் சுதந்திரப் பிரகடனம் (20 பிப்ரவரி 1947)
இந்திய துணைக் கண்டத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறுவதற்கான இங்கிலாந்து அரசின் விருப்பத்தை அந்நாட்டுப் பிரதமர் கிளமென்ட் அட்லி பிப்ரவரி 20, 1947 அன்று அறிவித்தார்.
அந்த அறிவிப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்ட அம்சங்கள்:
. இந்திய அரசியல்வாதிகள் அரசியலமைப்பை ஒப்புக் கொள்ளாத அந்த சமயத்தில், ஆட்சி அதிகாரத்தை மாற்றுவதற்கான காலக்கெடு 1948-ம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 30–ம் தேதி என நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டது.
அரசியலமைப்புச் சபை முழுமையான பிரதிநிதித்துவம் இல்லாத நிலையில், ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் ஆட்சி அதிகாரத்தின் சில அமைப்புகளை மத்திய அரசிடமோ அல்லது சில பகுதிகளில் தற்போதுள்ள தற்காலிக அரசுகளிடமோ தருவது என முடிவு செய்தனர்.
ஆங்கிலேய ஆட்சி அதிகாரங்கள் மற்றும் பொறுப்புகள் அதிகார பரிமாற்றத்தினால் காலாவதியாகும், ஆனால் இந்த அதிகார மாற்றம் ஆங்கிலேய ஆதிக்கத்தில் இந்தியாவில் உள்ள எந்த வாரிசு அரசிற்கும் மாற்றப்படாது.
மவுண்ட்பேட்டன் பிரபு வாவெலுக்கு பதில் புதிய வைஸ்ராயாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார்.
