Tamil Nadu
- Veermamunivar, the Jesuit priest, whose 340th birth anniversary falls on November 8, is known in the Tamil literary world for his epic Thembavani. His original name was Constantine Joseph Beschi (November 8, 1680 – February 4,1742).
- Chennai based Avtar Group has come up with an exclusive job portal ‘myavtar.com’ for women, people from the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, millennials and veterans.
India
- The Prime Minister renamed the Ministry of Shipping as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
- Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Sirius, Russia, launched ‘AIM-Sirius Innovation Programme 3.0’, a 14-day virtual programme for Indian and Russian school children. The first Indo-Russian bilateral youth innovation initiative, the AIM–Sirius programme seeks to develop technological solutions (both web- and mobile-based) for the two countries.
- The special and multifunctional structural laboratory of the CSIR-SERC in Chennai has designed a portable, foldable temporary shelter with a roof, doors, windows and lighting using steel and insulation material. The shelter with180 sq ft floor space can be used at construction sites, remote areas or to create makeshift hospitals.
- Due to a long-drawn-out boundary dispute, highways leading into Mizoram from Assam’s three southern districts of Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj have been blockaded since 28 October effectively cutting off the main supply lines into Mizoram.
International
- Azerbaijan has seized control of second largest city Shushi in Nagorno-Karabakh, according to the country’s president, after six weeks of fighting with Armenia.
