1.In a government order issued on February 8, the Forests Secretary Sandeep Saxena officially announced the creation of the Srivilliputhur-Megamalai Tiger Reserve which is the fifth tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu. An area of 1,01,657.13 hectares or 1,016.5713 sq km in the Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife Sanctuary, Srivilliputhur, and the Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary have been combined to create the reserve. With this new tiger reserve, the Vaigai river and its catchments will be fully protected.
தேசிய புலிகள் பாதுகாப்பு ஆணையத்தால் ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்துார் -மேகமலை -புலிகள் சரணாலயம் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டு அதற்கு தமிழக அரசு அரசாணை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. இதனால் ஒரு கோடி மக்களின் குடிநீர் பிரச்னைக்கு தீர்வு கிடைக்கும் வகையில் வைகை ஆறும் ஜீவநதியாக மாறும் வாய்ப்பு ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. மேகமலை வன உயிரினக் கோட்டம், ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்துார் சாம்பல் நிற அணில்கள் சரணாலயத்தை இணைத்து 1017 சதுர கி.மீட்டர் வனப்பகுதி ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்துார்- – மேகமலை புலிகள் சரணாலயமாக அறிவிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.
2.The researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras have developed strategies to improve the braking performance of electric vehicles (EVs) that could help make the ride comfortable in heavy commercial vehicles. The research was led by C.S. Shankar Ram of the Department of Engineering Design and his Ph.D., student V.S. Kesavan.

3.A provision of Rs.200 crores has been made for a new scheme-SVAMITVA to provide the ‘record of rights’ to village household owners possessing houses in inhabited rural areas in villages and issuance of property cards to the property owners through a survey of village areas with help of drone technology by Survey of India. It is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, State Panchayati Raj Departments, State Revenue Departments, and Survey of India.

4.The NITI Aayog has ordered the Jaipur-based research organisation Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) International to study the “economic impact” of judgments delivered by the Supreme Court (SC), high courts (HCs), and quasi-judicial bodies like the National Green Tribunal (NGT). It has also asked to study the “judicial activism” of such courts and tribunals.
