1. India has rolled out the world’s largest vaccination drive for COVID-19 which started on 16th January, 2021. The country is nearing 3 crore cumulative vaccination doses.

இந்தியா ஜனவரி 16, 2021 ஆம் தேதி கொரோனா தொற்றை தடுக்க உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய தடுப்பூசி இயக்கத்தை தொடங்கியது. இந்த திட்டத்தின் கீழ் நாடு முழுவதும் இதுவரை 3 கோடி பேருக்கு தடுப்பூசி வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

2. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on March10 issued a notification for “reconstitution of the Advisory Committee for the Multidisciplinary Study of the River Sarasvati”. The ASI had first set up the committee on December 28, 2017 for a period of two years.

இந்திய தொல்பொருள் ஆய்வு மையம் (ASI) மார்ச் 10 அன்று “சரஸ்வதி நதியின் பன்முக ஆய்வுக்கான ஆலோசனைக் குழு மறுசீரமைப்பிற்கான” அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. இந்திய தொல்பொருள் ஆய்வு மையம் முதன் முதலில் டிசம்பர் 28, 2017 அன்று இரண்டு வருட காலத்திற்கு இந்த குழுவை அமைத்தது.

 

3. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the sounding rocket (RH-560) to study attitudinal variations in the neutral winds and plasma dynamics on March 12, 2021 at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota Range (SHAR).

4. Justice Indu Malhotra, the first woman Judge to be elevated directly from the Bar and the seventh woman Judge to be appointed at the Supreme Court in 2018, retired on March 13, 2021. With her retirement, Justice Indira Banerjee remains the only woman judge in the top court.

5. In a major change, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has said that Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) are no longer compulsory for students aspiring to pursue an engineering degree in certain courses.

The Indus Commissioners of India and Pakistan will meet here on March 23 and 24 to discuss a host of issues, including Islamabad’s concerns to the design of Indian hydropower projects on the Chenab River. This will be the annual meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission.
