1. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami unveiled a mausoleum for late former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on the Marina on January 27.

மெரினா கடற்கரையில் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள மறைந்த முன்னாள் முதலமைச்சர் ஜெயலலிதா அவர்களின் நினைவிடத்தை ஜனவரி 27 அன்று தமிழக முதலமைச்சர் எடப்பாடி கே.பழனிசாமி அவர்கள் திறந்து வைத்தார்.

2. The Union Home Ministry has issued an order on January 27 extending the COVID-19 guidelines for surveillance, containment and caution till February 28 with some changes. A fresh set of guidelines is to be followed from February 1.

3. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of 35th edition of PRAGATI, the ICT based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Central and State governments.

4. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on January 26 observed the International Customs Day, 2021. The theme for this year as given by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) is “Customs bolstering Recovery, Renewal and Resilience for a sustainable supply chain”.

5. The 2nd edition of Fit India School Week started on 1st December 2020 and will conclude on 31st January 2021. It was conducted with the aim to encourage kids to inculcate physical activity and sports in their daily routine as school is the first place where habits are formed.

6. The West Bengal Transport Corporation in collaboration with a heritage book store has launched a children’s library on a boat, the first-of-its-kind initiative.

First time, a contingent of the Bangladesh Armed Forces participated in the Republic Day parade on January 26, commemorating 50 years of the country’s Liberation War and establishment of diplomatic ties with India. This was the third time that a contingent from a foreign country took part in the Republic Day celebrations. The other two countries were France (2016) and the UAE (2017).
