• The government of India unveiled the “Manthan” platform to drive collaboration between the industry and research institutes to implement technology-based social impact innovations and solutions in the country.
• The launch of Manthan, a platform that promises to augment our efforts to build and nurture industry participation in R&D, is also a testimony of our commitment to the UN’s SDG goals.

2. PM Modi announced ‘Panch Pran’ goal for the next 25 years

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the nation from the Red Fort for the ninth time in a row on August 15, 2022.
• PM Modi, in his 88-minute speech, outlined his “Panch Pran Targets” (Five Resolves) to make India a developed country by the time it celebrates its 100th Independence Day in 25 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the Panch Pran Goal.

3. India’s IT Secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma named to high-level UN internet panel

• UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has named India’s Electronics and Information Technology Secretary, Alkesh Kumar Sharma to a panel of eminent experts on internet governance.
• Internet pioneer Vint Cerf and Nobel Prize-winning journalist Maria Reesa were also appointed to the 10-member Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership Panel.

4. ‘Medicine from the sky’: First Pilot Project Launched in Arunachal Pradesh

• ‘Medicine from the sky’ pilot project drone service launched by the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu. ‘Medicine from the sky’ is also a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
• The first successful flight was conducted from Seppa to Chaoyang Tajo in the East Kameng district. This pilot project was a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to introduce new technologies in the health care sector of India.

5. Meghalaya Sports Department set to host 2nd edition of North East Olympics

• Meghalaya is all set to host the upcoming 2nd edition of the North East Olympics from 30th October.
• Meghalaya Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, and the North East Olympic Association was held last evening to finalize the list of sports disciplines. The first edition of the Games was held in Manipur in 2018, with 12 disciplines.

• The company has separated the post of Chairman & Managing Director and its patron Shekhar Bajaj will continue as Executive Chairman of the company.

7. Rajkiran Rai named as new MD of NaBFID

• The Centre and the board of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) has appointed Rajkiran Rai G as its managing director (MD) for the next five years.
• The board of NaBFID approved Rai’s appointment on July 30 based on clearance by the RBI, centre and the Development finance institutions (DFI) nomination and remuneration committee. He took charge as the DFI’s MD on August 8, and will hold the top post till May 18, 2027, according to details of the appointment.

8. Centre Approves Limit of Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme(ECLGS) to 5 Lakh Crore

• The Union Cabinet approved the enhancement in the limit of the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 5 lakh crore, with the additional amount being earmarked exclusively for enterprises in hospitality and related sectors.
• ECLGS is a continuing scheme and the additional amount of Rs. 50,000 crore would be made applicable to enterprises in hospitality and related sectors till validity of the scheme in March 31 next year.

9. Now, Use UPI For NPS, Atal Pension Yojana(APY) Contribution

• Subscribers of National Pension System (NPS) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) can now contribute to their accounts through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the country’s instant real-time payment system.
• The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched a UPI handle for depositing contributions through D-Remit for the benefit of subscribers.

• Shiprocket, a logistics technology platform supported by Zomato, raised $33.5 million (about Rs 270 crore) in a fundraising round co-led by Temasek and Lightrock India, Shiprocket becoming the 106th unicorn in India.
• With the new capital, Shiprocket was valued at about $1.2 billion. Since its founding in 2017, Shiprocket has tripled in size and serves more than 66 million clients annually.
• Shiprocket was established in 2017 and now serves more than 66 million customers annually while tripling in size year over year.
• Omuni, a technology company owned by Arvind Internet Limited, was purchased by Shiprocket last month for Rs 200 crore in stock and cash.

11. New deposit products introduced by Ujjivan SFB and Bank of Baroda

• The “Baroda Tiranga Deposit Scheme,” a unique retail fixed deposit product, was introduced by Ujjivan SFB and Bank of Baroda (BoB). Baroda Tiranga Deposit Scheme,offers interest rates of 5.75 percent for 444 days and 6 percent for 555 days.
• The programme is available through December 31, 2022, and it applies to retail deposits under Rs 2 crore. Senior people will receive an additional interest rate of 0.50 percent, according to a statement from BoB, while non-refundable deposits will receive an additional interest rate of 0.15 percent.

12. DGCA asks airlines to keep check on passengers violating mask

As the COVID-19 cases have started to rise again, the Directorate of Civil Aviation has asked the airlines to keep a check on the mask violators.

The airlines have been advised to ensure that the passengers are wearing masks properly and throughout the journey.

The DGCA also made clear that the airline can take strict action against the passengers not complying. It also mentioned that surprise inspections at the airport, on airlines, and on passengers must also be carried out.

The civil aviation regulator has also asked the airport operators to seek local police and security agencies’ help and levy fines on those not wearing masks.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a two-day National Security Strategies Conference 2022 in New Delhi.

The conference was attended by 600 officers from all over the country, physically and virtually.

On the first day of the conference, deliberations were held on various aspects of national security, including radicalization, counter-terrorism, and challenges posed by the Maoist outfits.

The Union Minister, during the conference, stressed on the significance of human intelligence in countering terrorism.

புதுதில்லியில் இரண்டு நாள் தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு உத்திகள் மாநாடு 2022

• மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சர் அமித் ஷா புதுதில்லியில் இரண்டு நாள் தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு உத்திகள் மாநாட்டை 2022 தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
• இந்த மாநாட்டில் நாடு முழுவதிலும் இருந்து 600 அதிகாரிகள் உடல் ரீதியாகவும், மெய்நிகர் ரீதியாகவும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
• மாநாட்டின் முதல் நாளில், தீவிரமயமாக்கல், பயங்கரவாத எதிர்ப்பு, மாவோயிஸ்ட் அமைப்புகளால் முன்வைக்கப்படும் சவால்கள் உள்ளிட்ட தேசிய பாதுகாப்பின் பல்வேறு அம்சங்கள் குறித்து ஆலோசனை நடத்தப்பட்டது.
• மாநாட்டின் போது, பயங்கரவாதத்தை எதிர்கொள்வதில் மனித நுண்ணறிவின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை மத்திய அமைச்சர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

14. BJP constitutes Party’s Parliamentary Board

Bharatiya Janata Party reconstituted Party’s Parliamentary Board and the Central Election Committee.

Headed by the party’s national president JP Nadda, the board will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and new members have also been added to the board.

The new members of the board are the former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yediyurappa, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, among others.

In the Party’s central election committee, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, and Rajya Sabha MP OM Mathur have been included.

• வாரியத்தின் புதிய உறுப்பினர்களாக கர்நாடக முன்னாள் முதல்வர் பிஎஸ் எடியூரப்பா, மத்திய அமைச்சர் சர்பானந்தா சோனோவால் உள்ளிட்டோர் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளனர்.
• கட்சியின் மத்திய தேர்தல் குழுவில், மகாராஷ்டிரா துணை முதல்வர் தேவேந்திர பட்னாவிஸ், மத்திய அமைச்சர் பூபேந்தர் யாதவ், ராஜ்யசபா எம்.பி., ஓ.எம்.மாத்தூர் ஆகியோர் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளனர்.

15. Government undertakes Project Cheetah

The Government of India has undertaken the ambitious Project Cheetah which aims to re-establish the species in its historical range in India.

The reintroduction of the wild species particularly Cheetah is being undertaken as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN guidelines.

As per the Environment Ministry, the processes such as disease screening, quarantine of the release candidates as well as the transportation of live wild animals across the continents require careful planning and execution.

• இந்தியாவில் அதன் வரலாற்று வரம்பில் உயிரினங்களை மீண்டும் நிலைநிறுத்துவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்ட லட்சிய திட்டமான சீட்டாவை இந்திய அரசு மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது.
• இயற்கை பாதுகாப்புக்கான சர்வதேச ஒன்றியம், IUCN வழிகாட்டுதல்களின்படி காட்டு இனங்கள் குறிப்பாக சீட்டாவை மீண்டும் அறிமுகப்படுத்துதல் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது.
• சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைச்சகத்தின் கூற்றுப்படி, நோய் பரிசோதனை, விடுவிக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் தனிமைப்படுத்தல் மற்றும் கண்டங்கள் முழுவதும் வாழும் காட்டு விலங்குகளை கொண்டு செல்வது போன்ற செயல்முறைகளுக்கு கவனமாக திட்டமிடல் மற்றும் செயல்படுத்தல் தேவைப்படுகிறது.

16. IRDAI hosts its inaugural hackathon, Bima Manthan 2022

• IRDAI, the insurance regulator, in order to safeguard the interests of policyholders, has asked organisations to provide technologically advanced new solutions for automated death claim settlement, reducing miss-selling, and other components of the insurance ecosystem.
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is accepting applications for Bima Manthan 2022, its inaugural hackathon, with the topic “Innovation in Insurance.”

• காப்பீட்டுக் கட்டுப்பாட்டாளரான IRDAI, பாலிசிதாரர்களின் நலன்களைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்காக, தன்னியக்க இறப்புக் கோரிக்கை தீர்வு, தவறுதலான விற்பனையைக் குறைத்தல் மற்றும் காப்பீட்டு சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைப்பின் பிற கூறுகளுக்கு தொழில்நுட்ப ரீதியாக மேம்பட்ட புதிய தீர்வுகளை வழங்குமாறு நிறுவனங்களைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
