FM transmitters to be set up in Sashastra Seema Bal premises
- Government of India has approved seven projects for setting up of FM transmitters in premises of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for strengthening FM coverage along Indo-Nepal border.
- The information in this regard was presented by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar to Lok Sabha.
- The FM transmitter project would be installed in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Uttarakhand
About Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
- It is one of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in India and is currently under administrative control of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Prior to 2001, SSB was known as Special Service Bureau (SSB).

- The Indian Space Research Organization will set up five Space Technology Cells at the premier institutes in order to carry out research activities.
- It includes IISc, IITs in Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras and Kanpur.

World Malaria Report 2019
- India was one of the only two countriesto report a reduction in malaria burden in 2018. The other nation was Uganda.
- India witnessed a 28 percent fall in malaria cases between 2017 and 2018. In the 2016 and 2017 period, India had recorded a 24 percent reduction in malaria cases.
- Further, only seven out of 28 Indian states and 9 UTs accounted for 90 percent of the estimated malaria cases in 2018. These states included West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
- India and nineteen countries in sub-Saharan Africa were found to have carried 85 percent of the global malaria burden, among which Nigeria accounted for most number of global malaria cases (25%), followed by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (12%), Uganda (5%) and Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique and Niger (4% each).

- 2018 இல் மலேரியா சுமை குறைக்கப்பட்டதாக அறிவித்த இரு நாடுகளில் இந்தியாவும் ஒன்றாகும். மற்ற நாடு உகாண்டா.
- 2017 மற்றும் 2018 க்கு இடையில் இந்தியா 28 சதவீதம் மலேரியா நோயாளிகள் குறைந்துள்ளனர் கண்டது. 2016 மற்றும் 2017 காலகட்டத்தில் இந்தியாவில் மலேரியா நோயாளிகள் 24 சதவீதம் குறைந்துள்ளனர்.
- மேலும், 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டில் மதிப்பிடப்பட்ட 28 இந்திய மாநிலங்களில் ஏழு மற்றும் 9 யூ.டி.க்கள் மட்டுமே 90 சதவீத மலேரியா நோயாளிகளாக இருந்தன. இந்த மாநிலங்களில் மேற்கு வங்கம், ஜார்க்கண்ட், சத்தீஸ்கர், ஒடிசா, மத்தியப் பிரதேசம், உத்தரபிரதேசம் மற்றும் குஜராத் ஆகியவை அடங்கும்.
- உலகளாவிய மலேரியா சுமைகளில் 85 சதவீதத்தை இந்தியாவும் துணை சஹாரா ஆபிரிக்காவில் உள்ள பத்தொன்பது நாடுகளும் சுமந்து கொண்டிருப்பது கண்டறியப்பட்டது, அவற்றில் நைஜீரியா உலகளாவிய மலேரியா நோயாளிகளில் (25%) அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில் உள்ளது, அதைத் தொடர்ந்து காங்கோ ஜனநாயக குடியரசு (12%) , உகாண்டா (5%) மற்றும் கோட் டி ஐவரி, மொசாம்பிக் மற்றும் நைஜர் (தலா 4%).

- The day is observed to honor the martyrs and the men of the Armed Forces who valiantly fought on the borders to safeguard India’s honor.
- On this day, the three branches of the Armed Forces of India, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, and the Indian Navy, organized a variety of programmes to showcase their efforts towards national security.
- On this day, small flags are distributed to the general population and in return collect donations. The fund collected will be used for the welfare of serving personnel and ex-servicemen and also to rehabilitate battle causalities.
