You have months, and the syllabus is SSLC standard throughout — this is the exam where steady daily practice decides the result. Part A Tamil alone is 150 of the 300 marks, and it counts for ranking, not just qualifying.

Eligibility
The Group 4 notification is expected on 6 October 2026. Age limits, post-specific qualifications and vacancy counts are fixed by that notification, so we publish them here the day it is out rather than repeating an older year’s figures. The examination is at SSLC standard, with post-specific qualifications for some posts such as Typist.

| You apply online through One Time Registration (OTR). OTR by itself is not an application. |
| Qualifications must normally be acquired by the notification date, in the prescribed order of study. |
| Adequate knowledge of Tamil with documentary proof is required as specified in the notification. |
| Admission at every stage is provisional and can be cancelled if a claim or document is invalid. |
Syllabus & exam pattern
TNPSC has not yet published the 2026 scheme. What follows is the pattern from the most recent official syllabus and notification, given as a preparation reference. The Commission may modify it in the 2026 notification.

This is the rule most aspirants miss: Part A is not merely a qualifying paper. Score below 60 and Parts B and C are never evaluated at all — but score above it and all 150 marks carry into your rank. Tamil is half the exam.
