* பஞ்சாப் மாநிலம் பங்கா என்ற கிராமத்தில் (தற்போது பாகிஸ்தானில் உள்ளது) 1907-ல் பிறந்தார். விடுதலைப் போராட்ட வீரர்கள் பலர் கொண்ட குடும்பம் அது. தந்தையும், இரு மாமாக்களும் சிறையில் இருந்து வெளிவந்த நாளில் பிறந்தார்.
* தாத்தா ஆரிய சமாஜத்தில் ஈடுபாடு கொண்டவர். சில உறவினர்கள் கதர் கட்சியில் இருந்தனர். இதனால், தேசபக்தியும் சீர்திருத்த சிந்தனைகளும் அவரிடம் இயல்பாகவே இருந்தன. ‘கோதுமை வயலில் துப்பாக்கி விளைய வைத்து வெள்ளையரை வேட்டையாட வேண்டும்’ என்று சிறு வயதிலேயே கனவு கண்டவர்.
* ஆரிய சமாஜத்தின் டிஏவி (தயானந்த் ஆங்கிலோ வேதிக்) பள்ளியில் படித்தார். ஜாலியன் வாலாபாக் படுகொலை நடந்தபோது அவருக்கு 12 வயது. சம்பவம் நடந்த சிறிது நேரத்தில் அங்கு சென்றவர், அப்பாவி மக்களின் ரத்தம் தோய்ந்த மண்ணை புட்டியில் போட்டு எடுத்து வந்தார்.
* லாகூர் தேசியக் கல்லூரியில் 1923-ல் சேர்ந்தார். கல்லூரி நாடகக் குழுவில் இடம்பெற்றார். நாட்டின் விடுதலைக்காகத் தன் வாழ்க்கையை அர்ப்பணிக்க முடிவு செய்தார். திருமணத்தை தவிர்க்க வீட்டை விட்டு வெளியேறி கான்பூர் சென்றார்.
* நவ் ஜவான் பாரத் சபாவை 1926-ல் நிறுவினார். ஐரோப்பிய புரட்சி இயக்க நூல்களைப் படித்தவர், பொதுவுடைமைக் கொள்கைகளால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டார். பல சுதந்திரப் போராட்டப் புரட்சி இயக்கங்களுடன் தொடர்பு ஏற்படுத்திக்கொண்டார். விரைவில் இந்துஸ்தான் குடியரசு அமைப்பின் தலைவர்களில் ஒருவரானார்.
* பொய்க் குற்றம் சுமத்தப்பட்டு கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். 5 வாரங்களில் விடுதலையானார். உருது, பஞ்சாபி நாளிதழ்கள், தொழிலாளர்கள், விவசாயிகளுக்கான இதழ்களில் புரட்சிகர கட்டுரைகளை எழுதினார்.
* சைமன் குழு 1928-ல் இந்தியா வருவதை எதிர்த்து பஞ்சாப் சிங்கம் லாலா லஜ்பத்ராய் அமைதிப் பேரணி நடத்தினார். அதில் ஏவிவிடப்பட்ட கொடூரத் தாக்குதலில் காயமடைந்து லஜ்பத்ராய் மரணமடைந்தார். இதற்குப் பழிவாங்கத் துடித்த பகத்சிங் தன் குழுவினருடன் இணைந்து, இதற்கு முக்கிய காரணமான காவல் அதிகாரியைச் சுட்டுக்கொன்றார்.
* தப்பிச் சென்ற இவர், தனது இயக்கத்தினருடன் இணைந்து சென்ட்ரல் அசெம்பிளியில் குண்டு வீசினார். மேலும் பல தாக்குதல் திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்தினார். இதையடுத்து கைது செய்யப்பட்ட பகத்சிங், ராஜகுரு, சுகதேவ் ஆகியோருக்கு தூக்கு தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டது.
* துப்பாக்கியும் புத்தகங்களும் இவரது நெருங்கிய நண்பர்கள். ‘இன்குலாப் ஜிந்தாபாத்’ (புரட்சி ஓங்குக) என்பது இவரது தாரக மந்திரம். சிறையில் இருந்தபோது ஏராளமான நூல்களைப் படித்தார். ‘தி டோர் டு டெத்’, ‘ஐடியல் ஆப் சோஷலிஸம்’ போன்ற நூல்களை எழுதினார். சிறையில் இந்தியக் கைதிகளுக்கும் ஐரோப்பியக் கைதிகளுக்கும் சம உரிமை வழங்க வலியுறுத்தி 116 நாட்கள் உண்ணாவிரதம் இருந்தார்.
* ஏராளமான இளைஞர்களுக்கு உத்வேகம் அளித்து விடுதலைப் போராட்ட இயக்கத்தில் பங்குபெறச் செய்த புரட்சியாளரான ‘மாவீரன்’ பகத்சிங் 24-வது வயதில் (1931) ஆங்கில அரசால் தூக்கிலிடப்பட்டார்
