1. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 17, 2021 announced the schedule for by-election to one of the three casual vacancies in the Rajya Sabha for Tamil Nadu. The polling will take place on September 13 for the vacancy caused by the death of AIADMK Rajya Sabha member, A. Mohammedjan on March 23.

தமிழ்நாட்டின் மாநிலங்களவை உறுப்பினரான திரு ஏ. முகமதுஜான் கடந்த மார்ச் 23-ம் தேதி காலமானதை அடுத்து, காலியாக உள்ள பணியிடத்தை நிரப்புவதற்கான இடைத்தேர்தல் தேதியை இந்திய தேர்தல் ஆணையம் அறிவித்துள்ளது. இந்தத் தேர்தல் செப்டம்பர் 13-ஆம் தேதி  நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

2. The Tamil Nadu government has reconstituted the high level expert committee on exploration and extraction of hydrocarbon projects and also revised the terms of reference so that the study can be taken up in areas other than the protected agricultural zone.The government has named Sultan Ahmed Ismail, part time member, State Development Policy Council, as chairman of the seven member committee.

காவிரி டெல்டாவில் ஹைட்ரோகார்பன் திட்டங்களால் ஏற்பட்ட பாதிப்பு குறித்து ஆராய நிபுணர் குழு ஒன்றை அமைத்து தமிழ்நாடு அரசு அரசாணை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. அதன்படி, தமிழ்நாடு மாநில வளர்ச்சி கொள்கை குழுவின் பகுதிநேர உறுப்பினரான பேராசிரியர் சுல்தான் அகமது இஸ்மாயில் தலைவராகவும்,  அவருடன்  6 பேர்  உறுப்பினர்களாகவும் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

3. Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that people can use free wifi for thirty minutes in places where smart poles have been installed under the Smart City initiative.

சீர்மிகு நகரத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் பெருநகர சென்னை மாநகராட்சியின் சார்பில் நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ள ஸ்மார்ட் கம்பங்கள் உள்ள பகுதிகளில் 30 நிமிடங்களுக்கு வைஃபை தொடர்பைப் பொதுமக்கள் இலவசமாகப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ளலாம் என, பெருநகர சென்னை மாநகராட்சி அறிவித்துள்ளது.

4. The V.O.C Chidambaranar Port created a new record on August 15 by unloading 57,090 tonnes of coal in 24 hours from the vessel, ‘M.V. Star Laura’, surpassing the earlier record of 56,687 tonnes of coal. The earlier record was also created at V.O.C. Port as the coal was unloaded from the vessel ‘M.V. Ocean Dream’ on October 27, 2020. The Port also handled the highest quantity of 1,82,867 tonnes of cargo on August 15, the highest volume of cargo handled in a single day this year.

தூத்துக்குடி வ. உ. சிதம்பரனார் துறைமுகம், 15.8.2021 அன்று, 24 மணி நேரத்தில் மிக அதிகமாக, 57,090 டன் நிலக்கரியை ‘எம்.வி. ஸ்டார் லாரா’ கப்பலிலிருந்து இறக்கி புதிய சாதனையைப் படைத்துள்ளது. இதற்கு முன்பாக, கடந்த 27.10.2020 அன்று இதே துறைமுகத்தில் ‘எம்.வி ஓஷன் ட்ரீம்’ கப்பலிலிருந்து கையாளப்பட்ட 56,687 டன் நிலக்கரியை விட இது அதிகமானதாகும். இந்த ஆண்டில், மிக அதிகமாக, ஒரே நாளில் 1,82,867 டன் சரக்குகளைக் கையாண்ட பெருமையையும் இந்த துறைமுகம் பெற்றுள்ளது.

5. The Reserve Bank of India on August 17, 2021 introduced its annual composite Financial Inclusion index (FI-Index) to capture the extent of financial inclusion in the country. The FI-Index will be published annually in July every year.

இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கி (RBI) ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜூலை மாதத்தில் நிதி உள்ளடக்கக் குறியீட்டினை வெளியிட உள்ளதாக அறிவித்துள்ளது. நாட்டில் நிதி உள்ளடக்கத்தின் பரவலைக் கணக்கிடுவதற்காக பல பரிமாணங்களின் அடிப்படையில் இந்த குறியீட்டைத் தயாரித்து வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

6. During this year, coal/lignite PSUs of the Ministry of Coal  have set an ambitious target under the “Go Greening” drive to cover 2385 hectares of area under bio-reclamation/plantation. The “Go Greening” drive is to be provided the right impetus through launch of the  “Vriksharopan Abhiyan 2021” on 19th August 2021 by the  Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi.

7. The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi has become the first hospital of India to house a fire station inside the hospital premises, to meet any emergency. For this, AIIMS has collaborated with Delhi Fire Service (DFS).
