1. The 16th International Conference of the Telemedicine Society of India will be held virtually from December 18 to 20. The theme of the conference will be ‘Telehealth: From the Fringes to the Mainstream.’

இந்திய தொலை மருத்துவ சங்கத்தின் 16 வது சர்வதேச மாநாடு வரும் டிசம்பர் 18 முதல் 20 வரை நடைபெறவுள்ளது. மாநாட்டின் கருப்பொருள் ‘தொலை உடல்நலம்: விளிம்பிலிருந்து பிரதான நீரோட்டம் வரை’.

 

2. The National Institute of Siddha has signed an MoU with National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai, to take up joint Research & Development projects in clinical and health system, epidemiological studies and basic medical and allied sciences. National Institute of Epidemiology is an institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

3. Justice Murali Shankar Kuppu Raju and his wife Justice Tamil Selvi have been sworn in as judges of Madras High Court. This is the second time in the history of Indian Judiciary that a couple have taken oath as judges together. Earlier in 2019 Justice Vivek Puri and his wife Justice Archana Puri were sworn in as judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

4. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new Parliament building on December 10, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has announced. The new Parliament building is part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, which also involves constructing a common Central Secretariat along with residences of Prime Minister and vice-president, and a revamp of the 3-km-long Rajpath, from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.

5. Jharkhand, the only remaining State, has now communicated its acceptance of Option-1 offered by the Centre to meet part of the GST compensation shortfall through a special borrowing window. With Jharkhand’s acquiescence to the Centre’s proposed solution, all the 28 States and 3 Union Territories with legislature have decided to go for Option-1 to meet the revenue shortfall arising out of the GST implementation.
