1. The Tiruvallur district police won the Skoch Award for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award was in recognition of the instant responder to improve social distancing (IRIS), a sensor based device, installed at the Thirumazhisai temporary vegetable market.

கோவிட் -19 தொற்றுநோயை திறமையாக எதிர்கொண்டதற்காக திருவள்ளூர் மாவட்ட காவல்துறை ஸ்கோச் விருது பெற்றுள்ளது. இது திருமழிசை தற்காலிக காய்கறி சந்தையில் சென்சார் அடிப்படையிலான IRIS நிறுவப்பட்டு அதன்மூலம் சமூக தூரத்தை மேம்படுத்த நடவடிக்கை எடுத்ததற்காக வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

2. The Water Resources Department (WRD) plans to study the possibility of increasing the Baby Canal’s carrying capacity to transfer more water from the Poondi reservoir to the Cholavaram reservoir.

3. The 60th Goa Liberation Day is observed every year on December 19. The day marks the Independence of Goa from centuries of Portuguese colonisation.

5. The Indian Railways is preparing a National Rail Plan 2030. On December 18, 2020, the Indian Railways issued a draft National Rail Plan.

6. The Indian Space Research Organisation has recently set up a dedicated control centre for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) activities in the country, called NETRA. NETRA is Network for space object Tracking and Analysis (NETRA). The project aims to monitor, track and protect space assets of India.

7. The Defence Minister on December 18 handed over three indigenously developed Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) systems to Army, Navy and Air Force at a function held in DRDO Bhawan. He handed over the Indian Maritime Situational Awareness System (IMSAS) to the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, ASTR Mk-I Missile to Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria and Border Surveillance System (BOSS) to the Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane.

The Government of India and the Government of France have announced the inauguration of first Center of Excellence(CoE) for skill development in power sector in the campus of National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) located at Gwal Pahari, Gurugram (Haryana) to create a robust cadre of certified trainers and assessors across the country.

The Russian authorities are alleged to have tampered with the database from the Moscow testing laboratory before handing it over to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) investigators in 2019.
