1.The distribution of the Pongal gift hamper, which includes cash assistance of ₹2,500 for each of the 2.06 crore rice ration card holders in Tamil Nadu, commenced on January 4. Besides the cash assistance, the gift hampers consists of 1 kg each of raw rice and sugar, sugarcane, cashew nuts, raisins and cardamom.
