1. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced the constitution of a high-level committee headed by a former judge of the Madras High Court Justice A.K. Rajan, to study the impact of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on medical college admissions in Tamil Nadu.

2. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced the extension of the Covid-19 lockdown for one more week from June 7 till 6 am on June 14 but offered region-wise relaxations based on the infection spread. While Chennai, districts in the north and south Tamil Nadu where COVID-19 cases have come down will get greater relaxations, 11 districts predominantly in the west and delta region where the infection rate is higher will have minimal relaxations.

3. The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot virtually launched the SAGE (Seniorcare Aging Growth Engine) initiative and SAGE portal for elderly persons. The SAGE portal will be a “one-stop access” of elderly care products and services by credible start-ups.

6. The Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das announced that the National Automated Clearing House (NACH) will be operational on all days including Sundays, gazetted holidays and other bank holidays effective from August 1 throughout the year.

The Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has signed an MoU with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) for a strategic partnership in implementing energy-efficient and clean energy solutions in the heating, ventilating air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry.

9. World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year. The theme of World Environment Day this year is ‘Reimagine. Recreate. Restore’.

10. NASA has announced that it is sending two new missions to Venus in order to examine the planet’s atmosphere and geological features. The two missions are DAVINCI+ (Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging) and VERITAS (Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography, and Spectroscopy).
