1. The State Government of Maharashtra has recently launched the “Maharashtra Mission Oxygen” which aims to ensure the production of 3,000 metric tons of life-saving gas per day in the state.

2. The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, has approved the proposal of the Department of Heavy Industry for implementation of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for ‘National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage’. It is to incentivize battery makers to manufacture locally as it looks to cut import dependence while giving a boost to electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

6. The US-based Moody’s Investors Service has reduced India’s gross domestic product (GDP) forecast for the financial year 2022 to 9.3 per cent from the earlier projection of 13.7 per cent.

7. The Japanese-based Nomura has reduced its GDP growth estimate for the current 2021-22 fiscal to 10.8 per cent from the earlier 12.6 per cent, blaming the impact of the second wave-induced lockdowns.
