1. NGT Committee on Mekedatu dam construction violation: The National Green Tribunal has formed a committee to submit a report on alleged violation of norms in the construction of a reservoir across the Cauvery river at Mekedatu in Karnataka.

2. The Ministry of Power has decided to set up a National Mission on the use of Biomass in coal-based thermal power plants in order to address the issue of air pollution due to farm stubble-burning and to reduce carbon footprints of thermal power generation.

3. The Maharashtra government has launched the “Mission Oxygen Self-Reliance” scheme to meet the state’s oxygen needs. Special incentives will be given to oxygen-producing industries under this scheme.

7. The Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan chaired the opening session of the 33rd meeting of Health Ministers of Commonwealth countries. The meeting themed “Commonwealth Response to COVID-19: Ensuring Equitable Access to Vaccines and Building Resilience for Health Systems and Emergencies” was held through video conference amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
