1. The freedom fighter and Gandhian T.M. Kalliannan Gounder, the last surviving former member of the Indian Constituent Assembly, died at the age of 101 at Tiruchengode in western Tamil Nadu on May 28. Kalliannan Gounder was born on January10, 1921 at Akkaraipatti village in Namakkal. He joined the Indian National Congress at the age of 19 and participated in the Quit India movement and he was elected to the Indian Constituent Assembly while he was 28-years-old. Then he was reportedly the youngest member in the Constituent Assembly then and also a member of India’s first provisional parliament.
இந்திய அரசியல் நிர்ணய சபை உறுப்பினராக பதவி வகித்த முன்னாள் எம்பி டி.எம்.காளியண்ணன் கவுண்டர் (101 வயது) அவர்கள், உடல்நலக்குறைவால் மே 28 அன்று உயிரிழந்தார்.
நாமக்கல் மாவட்டம் திருச்செங்கோடு அக்கரப்பட்டி கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் டி.எம்.காளியண்ணன் கவுண்டர். தனது 19-ஆம் வயதில் இந்திய தேசிய காங்கிரசில் சேர்ந்து, வெள்ளையனே வெளியேறு இயக்கத்தில் பங்கேற்றார். தனது 28-வது வயதில் (1948) இளைய உறுப்பினராக இந்திய அரசியல் நிர்ணய சபைக்கு தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டார். அப்போது அரசியல் நிர்ணய சபையில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட உறுப்பினர்கள் அனைவரும் புதிய மக்களவை உறுப்பினர்களாக (எம்பி) ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டனர். அதன்படி காளியண்ணன் எம்பியாகப் பதவியேற்றார்.

3. The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the apex body of broadcasters, is being renamed as Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF) with an aim to expand its purview to cover digital platforms to bring all digital (OTT) players under one roof.

The International Financial Services Centres Centres Authority (IFSCA) has constituted an expert committee on Investment Funds to recommend the roadmap for the fund’s industry in the International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs). The committee is headed by Nilesh Shah, the Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Co Ltd.

5. The Scientists of Nagpur-based National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have developed a do-it-yourself version of the RT-PCR test for testing Covid-19 samples. The NEERI scientists have developed the ‘Saline Gargle RT-PCR Method’ for coronavirus detection that has also received ICMR’s approval.
