1. India’s First Vaccine Against Cervical Cancer Launched

• India is set to launch its first indigenously developed Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (qHPV) against Cervical cancer with the help of the Serum Institute of India (SII) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) on 1st September 2022.
• The vaccine for Cervical cancer “CERVAVAC”, will be launched by Union Minister of State Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. The vaccine is likely to cost around 200-400 per dose.
• As per the government data, cervical cancer ranks number 2 for most prevalent cancer in India and also accounts for one-fourth of the world’s cervical cancer deaths.

• கர்ப்பப்பை வாய்ப் புற்றுநோய்க்கான தடுப்பூசி “செர்வாவாக்”, மத்திய அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறை அமைச்சர் ஜிதேந்திர சிங் அவர்களால் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. தடுப்பூசி ஒரு டோஸுக்கு சுமார் 200-400 செலவாகும்.

2. Nuakhai Festival Being Celebrated in Western Odisha

• Nuakhai is an annual harvest festival in Odisha. Nuakhai is celebrated to welcome the approaching new season and welcome the season’s new rice. Nuakhai is celebrated a day after Ganesh Chaturthi, and it is one of the most awaited festivals in Odisha.
• The festival is celebrated with Nabanna offering to Goddess Samaleswari during a particular time. Nuakhai is made of two words, Nua which means new, and Khai which means food.
• The festival altogether means celebrating the season’s new rice harvested by hardworking farmers. The people in the western part of Odisha celebrate Nuakhai with zeal and excitement.

3. Alappuzha Declared as the Fifth Full Digital Banking District

• Alappuzha has become the fifth fully digital banking district in the state. A declaration was made by the Reserve bank of India Kerala and Lakshadweep Regional Director Thomas Mathew regarding this.
• As a part of the initiative at least one digital transaction facility, such as a debit card. Internet banking, mobile banking, a unified payment interface, and many other facilities, has been enabled 26 lakh savings or current bank accounts in 29 banks in the districts.

4. Vasudha Gupta named as DG of News Services Division of AIR

• Indian Information Service officer, Vasudha Gupta was appointed as the director general of the news services division of All India Radio. Gupta, who was director general in the Press Information Bureau, assumed charge of her new post immediately.
• All India Radio Director General N Venudhar Reddy superannuated. Gupta played a key role in implementing the communication strategies of the government during the COVID-19 pandemic and also helmed the fact-checking unit to curb misinformation about the viral outbreak.
• Rajesh Malhotra, Director General in the Press Information Bureau (PIB), was promoted to the rank of Principal Director General. Malhotra will continue to look after the publicity works of the finance ministry in the PIB.

5. Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Interim New Chairman of ONGC

• Rajesh Kumar Srivastava has been appointed as the interim new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) by the Central Government. Rajesh Kumar Srivastava is the third interim Chief who has been appointed, as the government has not made any full-time appointment yet in 17 months.
• Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd or ONGC is an Indian oil and gas explorer and producer. ONGC was founded on 14th August 1956 by the Government of India. It is overseen by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It is also the largest Government-owned oil and gas exploration and production corporation in India.

6. Prime Minister Modi lays foundation stone of various projects worth Rs. 3,800 crores

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2, 2022, dedicated and laid the foundation stone for eight projects worth Rs. 3,800 crores in Mangaluru, Karnataka.

The Prime Minister remotely dedicated to the nation mechanized Berth No. 14 for container and other cargo at the New Mangalore Port Trust.

While addressing the public, Prime Minister Modi spoke in detail about the efforts made by the Central Government to make India a developed country.

During the program, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Union Ministers Sarbanand Sonowal, and Prahlad Joshi were also present.

7. India and United Arab Emirates reiterate the commitment to achieve goal of 100 billion of bilateral trade

The governments of India and the UAE have reiterated their commitment to achieving the goal of 100 billion dollars of bilateral trade in the next five years.

Both nations have also noted the possibility of linking the instant payment platforms, such as through the United Payment Interface of India.

The issues were discussed in the 14th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting which was co-chaired by the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Foreign Minister of UAE.

Another MoU was also signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations on the establishment of the India-UAE cultural Council Forum.

8. Finance Ministry: GST collection rose 28% in August to Rs 1.43 trillion

• The GST collection remained above the Rs 1.4-trillion mark for the sixth straight month in August and the ensuing festival season will help continue the trend.
• The gross GST revenue collected in August 2022 is Rs 1.43 trillion of which CGST is Rs 24,710 crore, SGST is Rs 30,951 crore, IGST is Rs 77,782 crore (including Rs 42,067 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 10,168 crore (including Rs 1,018 crore collected on import of goods).

9. SBI Card launches ‘cashback SBI Card’ in India

• Indian credit card issuer SBI Card has announced the launch of the ‘CASHBACK SBI Card’ in India. As the company claims CASHBACK SBI Card is the industry’s first Cashback-focused credit card that enables cardholders to earn 5 per cent cashback on all online spending without any merchant restrictions.
• Consumers across India, including tier 2 and 3 cities, can easily get CASHBACK SBI Card instantly through the digital application platform ‘SBI Card SPRINT’.

10. Forbes Asia 100 To Watch 2022: Indian start-ups features in the list

• Forbes Asia released the 2nd edition of the list titled ‘Forbes Asia-100 to Watch 2022’. The list highlights small companies and startups on the rise across the Asia-Pacific region.
• The list for 2022 featured 11 start-up companies from India along with 19 companies from Singapore, followed by 16 start-ups from Hong Kong, 15 from South Korea, and 13 from China.
• According to Forbes, 15 countries and territories are represented across 11 categories that include biotechnology and healthcare, e-commerce and retail, and finance.
• Companies had to be headquartered in the Asia-Pacific region, Privately owned, for profit.
• Companies have not more than USD 50 million in its latest annual revenue and have not more than USD 100 million in total funding through 1 August 2022.

11. CERT-In conducts exercise Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy”

• Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy” for 13 Countries.
• The Group is being led by India under the leadership of the National Security Council Secretariat. The theme of the exercise was “Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks”. The exercise scenario was derived from real-life cyber incidents, in which a domestic level (limited impact) ransomware incident escalates to a global cyber security crisis.

CERT-In சைபர் செக்யூரிட்டி பயிற்சி “சினெர்ஜி” நடத்துகிறது

• சிங்கப்பூரின் சைபர் செக்யூரிட்டி ஏஜென்சியுடன் இணைந்து எலக்ட்ரானிக்ஸ் மற்றும் ஐடி அமைச்சகத்தின் கீழ் உள்ள இந்திய கணினி அவசரநிலைப் பதிலளிப்புக் குழு (CERT-In) 13 நாடுகளுக்கான சைபர் செக்யூரிட்டி பயிற்சி “சினெர்ஜி”யை வெற்றிகரமாக வடிவமைத்து நடத்தியது.
• தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு கவுன்சில் செயலகத்தின் தலைமையில் இந்த குழு இந்தியாவால் வழிநடத்தப்படுகிறது. “ரான்சம்வேர் தாக்குதல்களை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கான பிணைய பின்னடைவை உருவாக்குதல்” என்பது பயிற்சியின் கருப்பொருள். உடற்பயிற்சி காட்சி நிஜ வாழ்க்கை இணைய சம்பவங்களிலிருந்து பெறப்பட்டது, இதில் உள்நாட்டு அளவிலான (வரையறுக்கப்பட்ட தாக்கம்) ransomware சம்பவம் உலகளாவிய இணைய பாதுகாப்பு நெருக்கடியாக அதிகரிக்கிறது.

12. FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: VAR technology to make debut in India

• The upcoming Under-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 in India will see the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology making its debut in the age-group showpiece, world football governing body FIFA announced.
• The prestigious tournament, which was given the go-ahead by FIFA after lifting the 11-day-long suspension of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), will be held in Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Stadium), Margao (JLN Stadium) and Navi Mumbai (DY Patil Stadium) from October 11-30.

• இந்தியாவில் நடைபெறவிருக்கும் 17 வயதுக்குட்பட்ட பெண்கள் உலகக் கோப்பை 2022, வீடியோ அசிஸ்டென்ட் ரெஃப்ரி (VAR) தொழில்நுட்பம் வயதுக்குட்பட்ட ஷோபீஸில் அறிமுகமாகும் என்று உலக கால்பந்து நிர்வாகக் குழு FIFA அறிவித்துள்ளது.
• அகில இந்திய கால்பந்து சம்மேளனத்தின் (AIFF) 11 நாள் தடையை நீக்கிய பின்னர் FIFA அனுமதி அளித்துள்ள இந்த மதிப்புமிக்க போட்டியானது புவனேஸ்வர் (கலிங்கா ஸ்டேடியம்), மார்கோவ் (JLN ஸ்டேடியம்) மற்றும் நவி மும்பையில் நடைபெறும். (DY பாட்டீல் ஸ்டேடியம்) அக்டோபர் 11-30 வரை.

13. World Coconut Day 2022 observed on 2nd September

• World Coconut Day is celebrated on 2nd September every year. The day is observed to emphasise and spread knowledge of the value and advantages of coconuts. The coconut palm is often called the ‘tree of life’ owing to its versatile use in food, fuel, medicine, cosmetics, building materials, and various other uses.
• The International Coconut Community selects the World Coconut Day themes. The World Coconut Day theme for this year is “Growing Coconut for a Better Future and Life”.
• The Asia Pacific Coconut Community(APCC) was established on 2nd September 1969. In 2009 Asia Pacific Coconut Community announced that, the first world coconut day was celebrated on September 2, 2009, by the Asia Pacific Coconut Community (APCC).

உலக தேங்காய் தினம் 2022 செப்டம்பர் 2 அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டது

• உலக தேங்காய் தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் செப்டம்பர் 2 ஆம் தேதி கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தேங்காய்களின் மதிப்பு மற்றும் நன்மைகள் பற்றிய அறிவை வலியுறுத்தவும் பரப்பவும் நாள் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. உணவு, எரிபொருள், மருந்து, அழகுசாதனப் பொருட்கள், கட்டுமானப் பொருட்கள் மற்றும் பல்வேறு பயன்பாடுகளில் அதன் பல்துறை பயன்பாடு காரணமாக தேங்காய் பனை பெரும்பாலும் ‘வாழ்க்கை மரம்’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
• சர்வதேச தேங்காய் சமூகம் உலக தேங்காய் தின கருப்பொருள்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கிறது. இந்த ஆண்டுக்கான உலக தேங்காய் தினத்தின் கருப்பொருள் “சிறந்த எதிர்காலம் மற்றும் வாழ்க்கைக்காக தேங்காய் வளர்ப்பு” என்பதாகும்.
• ஆசிய பசிபிக் தேங்காய் சமூகம் (APCC) 2 செப்டம்பர் 1969 இல் நிறுவப்பட்டது. 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டில் ஆசிய பசிபிக் தேங்காய் சமூகம், முதல் உலக தேங்காய் தினம் செப்டம்பர் 2, 2009 அன்று ஆசிய பசிபிக் தேங்காய் சமூகத்தால் (APCC) கொண்டாடப்பட்டது என்று அறிவித்தது.
